As 2020 approaches and I close out my 10th year of creating editorial cartoons for Fire Engineering Magazine, I feel incredibly grateful to be a very small part of this magazine’s 142-year journey. So many fire service icons have graced these pages with their wisdom; I don’t feel worthy, but am honored to have this platform for my voice. TURK THE TERRIBLE

 

Turk is big, Turk is tough,

Turk is nasty, and Turk is rough.

But little did Turk know,

that on one fateful call,

in a tree big and tall,

that he would become smitten

with a kitten named Regal.

Now, embarrassed and shocked,

and with the fear of being mocked,

Turk acted as if he wasn’t under a crush.

But everybody knew

and from this day proclaim,

that Turk The Terrible had been tamed!
